Are You Sure You Are Providing Your Child With All Of The Things They Require?

Are you aware of what kind of food, music or video games your kids like the best? Do you know about your child's everyday needs? Just when you feel as if you have it all figured out, children prove that it cannot be that easy and they change things on you. The parents should be aware of the few basic needs of the children, however. If parents consistently provide these things while children are young they will be able to more easily move through life's challenges. Last summer, we collaborated and came up with the 5 things every child needs from his or her parents.

It is important to listen to your child with your heart as well as your ears. On occasion your child may tell you what they want in words, but they are not saying what they need. Sometimes acting out is a child's way of indirectly showing you what they are lacking and what they need from you.

It is important for every child to realize that they are important. When other people value them, children learn to value themselves. We must not only see the good in our students, but we should tell them the positive as they don't always see it themselves. If you make them feel like you care about them, they will feel a lot better about themselves.

Touching allows your child to feel connected. Often through words children do not feel connected but they feel more through touch. If they learn that they are safe and can be comfortable around you, they will feel connected and that they are physically bonding with you because they love you.

To feel secure and safe is something your children need. If the home where children are living is a safe and comfortable environment, then they'll feel better about the world that they live in and be able to understand how things relate with each other.

Children need to be allowed to have and make choices. Children can feel a sense of empowerment and a capacity for learning and thinking when faced with making choices. When we give a choice to kids, they understand the results and will be capable to learn from their errors.

By being emotionally and physically available to our children through touch, smile, understanding and most importantly love, they will be given the opportunity to flourish from childhood and into adulthood.
