Information On The Cartoon Character Plankton In The Spongebob Squarepants Show

Plankton is one of the animated characters in the cartoon series, SpongeBob SquarePants; he is the owner of the Chum Bucket restaurant competing for customers with Krabs' rival business. It is only in an episode like Plankton's Army that viewers learn the full name of the character: Sheldon J. Plankton. Not even his computer wife Karen knows the full name of her husband. When she finds out together with the rest of us, she is terribly amused by it, making Plankton feel really embarrassed. The funny part about this character consists in his continuous attempts to steal Mr. Krabs secret recipe.

Sheldon Plankton is the smallest of the heroes in SpongeBob SquarePants, he is so tiny that he can fit into SpongeBob's hand. He is a zooplankter with one eye in the center of his head that is easily recognized by his very deep voice. In a funny episode, within an equally funny context, Plankton is very close to becoming Mr. Krabs' stepfather: now, picture that! Plankton's lifelong wish to get his hands on the Krusty Krabs' secret recipe is fulfilled only in the movie version of the production, because in most cases when Plankton gets close to fulfilling his dream, SpongeBob ruins all his claim of world domination.

The life goals of the character are definitely in clear contradiction with his appearance. Who would expect mighty things from the jelly green bean-shaped creature that is 99% evil and only 1% good. His repeated failures at stealing the Krabby Patty formula are caused by his over-haste and impatience. Sneaky and jealous, Plankton forgets that once, Mr. Krabs used to be his friend and the only one who didn't laugh at him and protected him against the others. Plankton's anger is often targeting SpongeBob that looks to Plankton as both silly and babyish, and who on top of everything knows the ingredients of the Krabby Patty recipe.

We could say that there is no antagonist or villain in the SpongeBob SquarePants series other than Plankton. He makes all sorts of major plans to achieve his goals and usually gets to work with characters that are much stronger in terms of physical appearance; actually, the fact that he is so small does not prevent him to have a huge ego and a really self-deceptive perception. From a certain point of view, Plankton wins viewers over by his miserable failures at getting something he puts so much emphasis on. No matter the way one feels towards this character it is obvious that he gives a grain of salt to the cartoon.
